Sources: Everton's chances of signing Gabriel Jesus revealed as Arsenal’s price tag changes
Everton will still find it difficult to afford Arsenal striker Gabriel Jesus this summer despite his reduced asking price, sources have told Football Insider.
The Gunners are now set to ask for between £20million-£25m for the 29-year-old after a difficult 2025-26 campaign.
However, the Toffees may still find the overall package and his wage demands “quite expensive”.
Everton are “long-term admirers” of the attacker, but top European clubs are now expected to show interest as well as teams from Brazil, given the Gunners’ new price tag.
It is now seen as an “open race” for the striker as Arsenal look to cash in on the former Manchester City man.
Jesus made 14 Premier League appearances for the North London club last season and netted three goals as he won the league title.
Is Gabriel Jesus good enough to solve Everton’s attacking issues?
One of the biggest issues at Everton in recent years has been their lack of a consistent striker up top.
Romelu Lukaku was arguably the club’s last clinical attacker, and he left the Toffees back in 2017, almost a decade ago.
David Moyes may be hoping that Jesus can finally solve this issue, and plenty of stats indicate that he could be a hit at the Hill Dickinson Stadium.
According to Fotmob on 26 June, he averaged 0.64 goals, a 0.58 xG, 4.06 shots, 1.71 successful dribbles and 8.98 touches in the opposition box per 90 minutes in the Premier League last season.
Therefore, if he is given more game time, there is every chance he could hit double figures comfortably in the top-flight in the 2026-27 campaign.
However, it remains to be seen if Everton make an official move for the Arsenal outcast.
Who else are Everton looking to sign this summer?
Football Insider has exclusively revealed that Everton have made a preliminary move to sign West Ham United captain Jarrod Bowen this summer.
The winger is keen on a move back to the Premier League and is expected to leave the Hammers after their relegation to the Championship.
The England international is set to assess his offers from different clubs before making a decision, which could damage the Toffees’ hopes of completing a deal.
Despite West Ham’s relegation last season, Bowen was one of the best players in the Premier League, and picked up 20 goal contributions.
