Sources: Everton’s new Jack Grealish plan revealed as transfer budget slashed
Everton are only willing to pay between £5-10million to secure Jack Grealish on a permanent deal this summer, sources have told Football Insider.
The Toffees are insisting that the 30-year-old winger, who spent last season on loan, will only move back to the Hill Dickinson Stadium on their terms.
Sources say manager David Moyes wants the club to look at recruiting proven players this summer, but Everton will not pay big fees.
As a result, the Merseysiders will go nowhere near the £50m option to buy price set by Manchester City in Grealish’s loan deal last season.
Everton simply do not have the money to splash on top players in the transfer window.
Grealish had been a qualified hit at Everton in the 2025-26 campaign, and picked up eight goal contributions in 20 Premier League matches before an injury ended his season.
Jack Grealish to Everton takes new twist as stats revealed
The saga around Grealish and Everton has lasted for months now, with no clear solution in sight.
As a result, this could end up lasting until the end of the transfer window if Manchester City are unable to find a buyer who will pay their asking price.
Nevertheless, it is clear that Grealish is worth this trouble to Everton and Moyes based on his recent stats.
According to Fotmob on 11 July, Grealish averaged 0.33 assists, a 0.20 xA, 2.10 chances created, 0.28 big chances created and 5.85 duels won per 90 minutes in the Premier League last season.
Therefore, if Everton can re-sign the England international and get him to replicate this form, it could be the difference between Europe and another mid-table finish.
Who else are Everton looking to sign this summer?
On top of Grealish, Everton have also been linked with Tottenham Hotspur’s Djed Spence in recent weeks.
The right-back is currently away with England in the 2026 World Cup, and has started in some of the fixtures.
However, Football Insider has exclusively revealed that Spence plans to try and impress Roberto De Zerbi in pre-season, potentially damaging Everton’s transfer hopes.
The 25-year-old is keen to prove himself to the Tottenham boss ahead of the 2026-27 campaign as he looks to cement his place as a key member of the squad for the coming months.
