Tyler Dibling told he faces 'loan move' to save Everton career - transfer expert
Tyler Dibling's future at Everton is at serious risk just one year after he arrived in a deal worth up to £40million from Southampton.
That is according to former senior Everton scout, Bryan King, speaking exclusively to Football Insider.
The Toffees won the race to sign the 20-year-old last summer amid plenty of interest elsewhere, after he had made his breakthrough for the Saints.
But Dibling was on the pitch for just over 500 minutes of football in his debut season, failing to score a single goal and prompting serious doubts about the signing.
The England youth international now faces a summer of doubts, with Everton having already signed another winger in Tyrique George.
The youngster arrived on loan in January and has now signed permanently at Hill Dickinson Stadium for £24m, with Dibling potentially facing even more congestion.
Tyler Dibling has 'lots to do' to save Everton career
Much of Dibling's failures to play under David Moyes are down to his failure to really make an impression off the bench.
The winger did not register a single goal contribution during his 18 appearances across all competitions, although he has not had it easy.
Dibling started just four Premier League games this season, and has barely been given a chance to build any momentum.
His future at Hill Dickinson Stadium hangs in the balance, nonetheless, with only so much patience afforded to him.
"When you look at that, that's half the money they spent on Dibling from Southampton," King told Football Insider, when asked about George's £24m move.
"And for me, he's got lots to do, the boy from Southampton, Dibling. He's got a lot to do. I think the fee has curtailed his growth as a footballer, to be honest.
"This has obviously got to be a make or break season for him because otherwise, it's: 'you're out on loan, son.'"
What Dibling has said about Everton future
Should Dibling be made available for loan this summer, Everton would surely receive plenty of interest.
The winger is undoubtedly hugely talented and showed it in that breakthrough campaign, but confidence is clearly lacking.
"It’s been tough [at club level]," he said in April. "When I come with England, it’s good to get minutes and play in these types of games to know that when I go back to Everton, I can really push on at the end of the season and into the next.
"I had a good season last year with Southampton and it’s been harder for me this season with not playing as many games, but it’s all experience at the end of the day.”
