Tyler Dibling 'could leave this summer' as replacement lined up - ex-Everton scout
Tyler Dibling's lack of development has been a huge disappointment at Everton after £42million was spent to sign him from Southampton.
That is the opinion of experienced former Everton scout Bryan King, who spoke exclusively to Football Insider.
The 20-year-old was among the Premier League's most exciting forwards when he broke through in 2024-25, but his first campaign at Hill Dickinson Stadium ended without a single goal or assist across all competitions.
Dibling is under contract until 2029 at Everton, and it is still hoped that he can fulfil his potential in future years.
But there is a feeling that he will need to leave the Toffees for the time being, with David Moyes clearly yet to trust him.
Everton have been linked with a move for Jarrod Bowen this summer, in a move that would only block Dibling's path further.
Bryan King suggests Tyler Dibling exit could be likely
Dibling did not pull up loads of trees in his breakout season for Southampton, but he clearly demonstrated his ability to compete.
The winger looked to be a fantastic ball-carrier and a powerful runner for his age, with several clubs said to be looking at him.
Ultimately, Everton decided to pull the trigger and make Dibling their third-most expensive signing in history.
And in truth, the England youth international is yet to have a real chance to impress Moyes.
The 19-year-old started just five games this season and barely topped 500 minutes of action, despite being available throughout the campaign.
"I'm not sure about the young boy they brought from Southampton," King told Football Insider.
"He hasn't progressed like I think everybody was thinking he was going to be, because he costs a lot of money. Far too much money for a player of that quality.
"He could leave this summer, potentially on loan, especially if they bring in another winger."
What has David Moyes said about Dibling?
Dibling now faces a crucial period for his future, with Everton's pre-season perhaps a defining one for his next few years.
Whether the teenager elects to attempt to impress Moyes or indeed push for a loan move away, he simply must find a route to regular football.
"He'll have to do better, I think," said Moyes last month. "He'll have to do better in his work and in his training. We brought in Tyrique George on loan from Chelsea, who is of a similar age and as competition as well to make sure we were covered.
"I think Tyrique has done well in the moments he's had in games and shown some bits that we like, so we want Tyler to step up, we really do. He's important to us. He's a player who we put a lot of faith and money into to bring him here so we are looking for a lot more."
