Ex-manager backs Winks to soon sign for Everton after update
Alex McLeish has claimed Harry Winks would thrive at Everton or Aston Villa amid reported plans to leave Tottenham.
Speaking exclusively to Football Insider, the former Scotland manager suggested the 25-year-old needs to leave Spurs to reignite his career.
As reported by The Times (6th October), Winks is set to push for a loan move away in January in pursuit of regular game time.
Spurs were reportedly open to offers in the summer amid interest from Aston Villa and Everton.
A recruitment source has told Football Insider that Winks is valued around the £30million mark.
McLeish admitted Winks may need a fresh start after faltering at Spurs over the last year.

He suggested the Spurs academy product would be a good signing for either Villa or Everton.
Asked if either club should reignite interest in January, McLeish told Football Insider’s Russell Edge: “I definitely feel that it can enhance the squads of either club.
“I don’t say that because I’m saying they’re lower than Tottenham or anything. Sometimes there’s too much pressure at a certain club you’re at.
“When you go away, you can get your wings free and then do your stuff. Not be under the same intense pressure.
“That sounds as if I’m giving these guys a cop-out. They can still enhance their and improve their careers by moving.
“Even if it’s to a so-called lesser club, they can come back strong.”
Winks has struggled for game time at Tottenham this season, with just two Premier League appearances under his belt.
He has fallen behind the likes of Pierre-Emile Hojbjerg, Oliver Skipp, Giovani Lo Celso and Tanguy Ndombele in the pecking order.
