Ex-manager tips Lingard to snub Tottenham for West Ham after source's update
Alex McLeish has suggested Jesse Lingard could snub a possible move from Manchester United to Tottenham to re-sign for West Ham.
The former Scotland manager, speaking exclusively to Football Insider, admitted he thinks the 28-year-old would prefer a return to east London this summer.
As revealed by Football Insider on Monday (July 12th), West Ham fear the Tottenham could beat them to Lingard’s capture.
A source at the London Stadium told this site they believe the north Londoners to be fierce rivals for the attacking midfielder.
Football Insider previously revealed (July 10th) Lingard is one of two players wanted by Nuno Espirito Santo in a potential part-exchange for Harry Kane.
However, McLeish suggested the Manchester United man could “scupper” Spurs’ plans and push for a return to the Irons.
“I think all the guys know each other at every club,” McLeish told Football Insider’s Russell Edge.

“I could see that Lingard made a lot of pals at West Ham. Working with the manager, David Moyes, it looked like a great relationship.
“You would feel, out of comfort, he would go back there. In this day and age, it’s strange. Money talks and sometimes the lure of something else entices you.
“I guess he’s got a big, big decision to make. If he’s part of the Harry Kane swap, then he may scupper that. He may say: ‘No, I want to go to West Ham.”
Lingard scored nine goals and contributed five assists during his half-season loan spell last season.
He still has a year left on his contract at Old Trafford.
