Ex-manager: Tottenham could pull Sanchez U-turn after agent reveal
Alex McLeish has suggested Tottenham could pull a U-turn over letting Davinson Sanchez leave after an impressive start to the season.
The former Scotland manager, speaking exclusively to Football Insider, claimed the 25-year-old just needs to show some consistency to keep his place under Nuno Espirito Santo.
As revealed by Football Insider back in May, Tottenham were planning to sell Sanchez this summer.
As quoted in July, the centre-back’s agent, Nestor Villarreal, confirmed he was “on the lookout” to get Sanchez a move.
Despite the speculation, the Colombian started Spurs’ opening game of the season against Manchester City.
He put in a standout display to help the Lilywhites’ seal a 1-0 win in north London.

McLeish suggested Tottenham may choose to keep Sanchez if he can prove his dependability.
Asked if he thought Sanchez could have changed Spurs’ mind about letting him go, McLeish told Football Insider’s Russell Edge: “Yeah.
“There was hardly a man at fault for Spurs last weekend. No doubt the analysts will always look for something.
“Davinson Sanchez, you have to throw the gauntlet down and say: ‘These performances must continue.’
“That happened with Spurs a lot last year. One day you’d see a good performance level, then you’d think: ‘God, what happened to them there?’
“‘Was it just a brilliant winger against him or did he not have the motivation?’
“They have to strive to make themselves as good as Spurs want to be themselves. That’s the levels and the standard that they’re playing at.”
Sanchez played 32 times across all competitions for Spurs last season.
His appearance against City was his 150th for the Lilywhites to date.
