Sources: Senior star makes up mind to quit Reading
The Wales and former Tottenham defender Chris Gunter is set to end his lengthy spell at Reading, Football Insider can reveal.
The 30-year-old has agreed a short-term extension until the end of the Championship season.
But a recruitment source has told Football Insider that Gunter is then set to call a halt to his eight-year association with the Berkshire outfit.
He has not agreed a new deal with Reading and there are no plans for him to do so.
Gunter will then become a free agent and look to secure a move to another Championship club.
The source explained there is already interest from multiple clubs in the experienced right-back.
He has lost his starting role at Reading this season but has still made 15 appearances in all competitions and had been playing regularly before being struck by a groin injury pre-lockdown.
Gunter has immense experience gleaned at Cardiff City, Tottenham, Nottingham Forest and Reading.
Capped 96 times by Wales he has racked up over 500 appearances in his professional career, including a remarkable 423 in the Championship.
Reading returned to Championship action last Saturday with a 1-1 draw against Stoke City, and Gunter featured for 90 minutes.
In other Tottenham news, it can be REVEALED that Marcelo Bielsa has spoken to Mauricio Pochettino about a potential Spurs signing.
