Alan Hutton insists that Glen Kamara was a “steal” for Rangers after his performances since joining the club back in January.

The former Rangers defender and lifelong fan at Ibrox, speaking exclusively to Football Insider assistant editor Russell Edge, admits he was not sure what the Finnish international had to offer when he signed back in the winter transfer window but that he has been left head over heels with his impact at Ibrox.

Kamara, who had already signed a pre-contract with the Light Blues to join in the summer, sealed a late switch from Dundee to Rangers back in January for a reported fee of just £50,000.

Hutton says that he has been surprised by how impressive the 23-year-old has been in the middle of the park and that the Gers have snapped up a real bargain with his capture.

Hutton told Football Insider: “He was a great signing. I don’t even think they paid that much for him and at the time I didn’t know too much about him, if I’m going to be honest.

“It wasn’t until I’d seen him play and when he settled in, he looked very composed, very good on the ball. He does a great job in there, keeps things moving, things ticking, great energy.

“I think that’s been a steal for Rangers to get him for the money that they paid for him.”

Kamara has already played 28 times for the Glasgow giants during his time with Steven Gerrard’s side, scoring the second goal of his Gers career against Livingston in midweek.

The 13-cap international kicked off his career at English giants Arsenal, playing once for the Gunners’ first-team, before heading north of the border back in 2017 to join Dundee.

In other Rangers news, Hutton has told Football Insider he has been raving over one Gers star who actually “struggled” against Livingston.
