Arsenal have been told to pay another £6million to seal a deal for Hungary international Dominik Szoboszlai, Football Insider can reveal.
The Premier League big hitters are battling Juventus and Borussia Dortmund to sign the 18-year-old after his emergence as one of Europe’s most exciting teenagers.
An Arsenal source has told Football Insider the club are preparing to table a formal bid for Szoboszlai, 18, as they look to prise him from Red Bull Salzburg in the summer transfer window.
The Gunners had hoped that £9million would be enough to secure the rising star, but have been told by the Austrian club that would not be enough.
RB Salzburg are instead holding out for £15million for the in-demand youngster, who is regarded as one of the best teenagers in world football after a series of dazzling performances for club and country in the last year.
The Austrian club’s plan is to hold on to Szoboszlai until at least the January window as that would enable him to play in the group stages of the 2019-20 Champions League next season following their qualification for Europe’s premier club competition.
Szoboszlai has already been capped four times by Hungary, despite his tender age and the fact he does not even turn 19 until October.
He was also a regular starter for RB Salzburg in the second half of last season, with his versatility and creativity in midfield winning the favour of his manager.
In other Arsenal news, it can be REVEALED that German big hitters have tabled a formal bid for a Gunners defender.
