'He'd be Fantastic signing' - Exclusive: Bent reacts as West Ham set sights on 16-assist ace

Darren Bent claims that West Brom could turn a big profit on loanee Matheus Pereira this summer after his impressive form this season.

The former Aston Villa and England striker, speaking exclusively to Football Insider assistant editor Russell Edge, insists that the winger would be a “fantastic signing” for Slaven Bilic’s side.

Football Insider have revealed that Premier League side West Ham are keeping tabs on a potential move this summer, although the Baggies have an obligatory deal in place to sign the 23-year-old for £8million-plus on promotion.

Bent says that a seven-figure fee is a bargain for the Baggies but has suggested they could make a healthy profit by selling him on again.

Bent told Football Insider: “Absolute snippet. I’m all for them low prices, for West Brom that would be a fantastic signing.

“As we’ve said, when you’re in the Championship, it’s a completely different shopping list when you’re in the Premier League.”

Asked about the possibility of West Brom turning a big profit on the winger if the purchase clause were to be triggered, Bent said: “Exactly, that’s the thing they’ve got to think about. Hopefully, we can get some football going again so we can see these great guys on the pitch.”

Pereira, who is on loan from Sporting CP, has a total of six goals and 16 assists under his belt for West Brom so far.

The Baggies currently sit second in the Championship table, six points clear of third-placed Fulham with nine games left to play.
