Kevin Phillips has tipped Adam Lallana to exit Liverpool this summer as his contract draws to a close.
The former Sunderland and Aston Villa striker, speaking exclusively to Football Insider correspondent Dylan Childs, claimed clubs will be “queuing up” for the 31-year-old’s signature.
Lallana’s current contract expires in June and Football Insider revealed last week he is one of five senior stars set for the exit this summer.
Transformed into a deeper lying central midfielder this season, the Englishman has made 22 appearances under Jurgen Klopp in the current campaign but struggled for a regular starting role.
When asked if he expected the midfielder to be playing his football in Merseyside next season, Phillips told Football Insider: “I think he will move on.
“There will be a few big clubs queuing up to take him. It depends on how Klopp views his position, whether he sees him as an impact player off the bench.
“Lallana might feel he has been there a few years now and at this stage of his career and the age he is at it is maybe time to play week in, week out.
“He is still a relatively young man and as much as you are at one of the biggest clubs in Europe, winning the Champions League and playing in the Champions League you are not actually playing regularly – that is what football is all about.
“I would not be surprised if he pitched up somewhere else next year.”
According to Sky Sports, Leicester made an approach for Lallana last month ahead of a possible summer move.
The Englishman can sign a pre-agreement with a foreign club prior to the expiry of his deal at Anfield.
In other Liverpool news, Kevin Phillips has told Football Insider title should not be awarded until it is mathematically won.
