Sources: Five senior Liverpool players set for exit in big overhaul, star defender may follow
Liverpool are set for a significant overhaul of their playing squad that will end in at least five senior players leaving, Football Insider understands.
Adam Lallana, Xherdan Shaqiri, Nathaniel Clyne and goalkeeper duo Loris Karius and Andy Lonergan are heading the exit queue, while the future of long-serving defender Dejan Lovren is also up in the air.
A Liverpool source has told Football Insider that the club’s transfer plans are irrespective of a testing two weeks in which they have been eliminated from the Champions League and the FA Cup.
Manager Jurgen Klopp has already decided to offload Karius, 26, and Shaqiri, 28, while Lallana, 31, and Clyne, 28, are out of contract at the end of the season and have not been offered extensions.
Lonergan’s one-year contract also expires in the summer and he is in line to depart after being signed as an emergency option at the start of the season.
Klopp must also decide whether the Merseysiders should cash in on Lovren, who turns 31 in July when he enters the final 12 months of his contract.

The Croatia international has made only 14 appearances this season and his poor availability and myriad injury issues over the last two campaigns is a growing concern.
Liverpool’s scouts have been looking closely at younger centre-backs, including Brighton & Hove Albion’s Ben White, who has had an outstanding campaign at Championship leaders Leeds United, and could let Lovren go if they can sign an alternative.
Besiktas do not intend to take up their option to convert Karius’ loan into a permanent transfer for £7million even though he has been their first choice keeper all season.
That means the keeper will be scheduled to link up Liverpool in July, although he is set to move on to a new club.
Shaqiri is also surplus to requirements at Anfield after making just three starts among 10 appearances this season.
In other Liverpool news, it can be REVEALED that the club are to hand a huge pay rise to attacker as three-year deal is close.
