Norwich City have received no contact from Arsenal regarding Emiliano Buendia, Football Insider can exclusively reveal.

It has been widely reported that the London club have set their sights on signing the 24-year-old this month.

However, a source at Carrow Road has told Football Insider that there has been no approach or enquiry from Arsenal yet.

Buendia has been one of the standout performers in the Championship this season – his 19 appearances in the division have yielded an impressive seven goals and seven assists.

Norwich boss Daniel Farke is desperate to keep hold of his prize asset this month, with his side top of the Championship and on course to return to the Premier League at the first time of asking.

A £1.35million signing from Getafe, Buendia still has three-and-a-half years remaining on his contract at Carrow Road, having last renewed terms in July 2019.

The Gunners have been linked with a host of attacking midfielders in this window including Buendia, Borussia Dortmund’s Julian Brandt, PSG’s Julian Draxler and Real Madrid’s Isco.

The search for offensive reinforcements comes after a dismal run of form at the back end of 2020 which led to calls for Mesut Ozil to be brought back into the side.

However, Mikel Arteta ignored such suggestions and instead looked to the young Emile Smith-Rowe and Bukayo Saka to solve the club’s creativity problem.

The pair have since excelled in a Gunners side that have won their last four games in all competitions.

Whereas Ozil is expected to follow Sead Kolasinac and William Saliba out of the club.

In other news, a European club has opened talks over the signing of an Arsenal 25-year-old.
