Bournemouth are stepping up their pursuit of Stoke City goalkeeper Jack Butland after watching him in action last weekend, Football Insider understands.

Cherries boss Eddie Howe has made a new goalkeeper one of his top priorities this summer and England international Butland has emerged as his prime target.

A club source has told Football Insider that a Bournemouth scout is understood to have watched Butland in Stoke’s 2-2 draw with Rotherham at the bet365 Stadium on Saturday.

The Premier League outfit could be looking for two new goalkeepers this summer with Asmir Begovic falling out of favour under Howe and Artur Boruc out of contract at the end of the season.

Butland is likely to leave Stoke this summer after their failure to challenge for promotion back to the Premier League this season and Stoke would demand a fee in the region of £15m for the former Birmingham man.

The 26-year-old has started all 42 of the Potters' Championship matches this season.
