EXCLUSIVE By Pete O’Rourke
Burnley have made an approach to sign Everton defender Jonjoe Kenny this summer, Football Insider understands.
The Merseysiders are prepared to loan out Kenny, 22, next season if they succeed with their intention, as they expect to, in recruiting a new right-back to Goodison Park during the window.
An Everton source has told Football Insider that Burnley have expressed an interest in taking Kenny on loan if he is made available this summer.
Clarets boss Sean Dyche is looking to bolster the right side of his side’s defence, where Phil Bardsley and Matt Lowton shared the position this season.
Kenny would only further strengthen Dyche’s squad options and provide youth and energy in the key role.
He made just seven Premier League starts this season, with Seamus Coleman the continued first-choice at right-back for Everton and any potential new right-back addition would push England Under-21 international Kenny further down the pecking order.
Manager Marco Silva feels Kenny would be best served to go out on loan next season to get regular first-football if he is going to find his opportunities limited.
In other Everton news, it can be REVEALED the club are to dump big-money signing after Silva makes up his mind.
