Burnley are plotting a swoop to sign highly-rated Scotland youth international Kane O'Connor as he undergoes a trial, Football Insider understands.

The centre-back, 18, has come through the ranks at Hibernian, but he seems set to move on this summer with England looking his most likely destination.

The Scotland Under-18 captain has impressed for club and country at age-group level during the last couple of years and his performances have brought him on the radar of Premier League duo Burnley and Huddersfield as well as Championship side Brentford.

A source close to the player has told Football Insider that O'Connor is expected to visit all three clubs and hold talks with them over a potential move before making a decision on his future.

The 18-year-old is set to feature for Burnley's Under-23s in a friendly game ironically against fellow interested party Huddersfield on Wednesday so that the Burnley coaching staff can have a look at the talented defender at close quarters.

Huddersfield are plotting a hijack of their top-flight rivals and Brentford are also set to invite the player to train with them as the three clubs look to persuade the teenager to make the move to their respective club.

O'Connor is highly-regarded at Hibs and, although he has yet to break into the first-team at Easter Road, he has been a regular in their development squads.
