EXCLUSIVE By Wayne Veysey

Callum McGregor is ready to quit Celtic to be reunited with Brendan Rodgers at Leicester City this summer, Football Insider has learned.

The Scottish treble winners are aware of interest from their ex-manager in the midfielder, 26, as they face the prospect of losing two of their star players to Premier League clubs.

A Celtic source has told Football Insider that McGregor is eager to play again for Rodgers, who was instrumental in overseeing his development into one of the best players in the Scottish Premiership.

Leicester have already agreed some big-money summer signings this summer, most notably central midfielder Youri Tielemans, forward Ayoze Perez and full-back James Justin.

A formal move for McGregor would be partly dependent upon the sale of Harry Maguire, who is the subject of strong interest from Manchester United and Manchester City.

The Premier League champions had been the favourites to sign the England centre-back but they are reluctant to pay more than £65million.

Rodgers is keen to renew his association with serial trophy winner McGregor, with the source explaining that the bidding would most likely start at around the £15million mark.

Celtic face a battle to hang on to the versatile midfielder, a key player during their triple treble run, at a time when Arsenal and Napoli are pushing hard to sign left-back Kieran Tierney.

McGregor has made 224 appearances in total for his boyhood club, 59 of which came last season, and is also establishing himself as a key player for the Scotland national team.
