Wigan Athletic have tabled a £1.9million bid for Everton defender Antonee Robinson, Football Insider can reveal.

The Championship club have made a formal move for the USA international, 21, after he spent last season on loan at the DW Stadium.

An Everton source has told Football Insider the club are weighing up their next move and whether to accept the bid and sanction the sale of Robinson.

It comes after the Merseysiders announced yesterday that veteran left-back Leighton Baines has agreed the terms of a one-year contract extension.

Marco Silva must decide whether to keep Robinson, who is behind Lucas Digne as well as Baines in the pecking order for the left-back slot at Goodison Park, loan him out again or sanction a permanent exit.

The six-times USA international has two years remaining on his Everton contract, but has yet to play for the senior side since graduating from their academy.

Robinson spent last season on loan at Wigan, where he made an excellent impression and established himself as a regular starter.

He made 26 appearances in all competitions in a campaign disrupted by a serious ankle injury and has previously had a stint on loan at Bolton Wanderers.
