Exclusive: Club ready bid for Chelsea 26-yr-old as Lampard green lights £18m transfer

Inter Milan are ready to make a move for Chelsea defender Emerson Palmieri, Football Insider can exclusively reveal.

Inter boss Antonio Conte is keen to sign the 25-year-old who has struggled to establish himself in England.

A source at Stamford Bridge has told Football Insider that Frank Lampard has given the green light for the left-back to be sold this summer.

Lampard recognises that he must sell to raise funds for defensive signings and sees Emerson as surplus to requirements in London.

Chelsea owner Roman Abramovich has already delved deep into his pockets this year to sign Timo Werner and Hakim Ziyech while Bayer Leverkusen’s Kai Havertz remains a key target.

Football Insider understands that the Italian giants are plotting a formal bid for Emerson who is valued between £15-18million.

It was Conte, then Chelsea boss, who paid £18million to bring the Brazilian-born full-back to Stamford Bridge in January 2018.

The Italy international has made 55 appearances for the Premier League giants but Marcos Alonso has often been preferred at left-back.

Emerson has two years left on his contract after he penned a four-year deal upon his arrival from AS Roma.

His replacement could be Ben Chilwell after this site revealed that the Blues had made a breakthrough in negotiations with Leicester City regarding his transfer.

The Foxes valued the England international at £80million but it is understood they have now dropped that figure to around £50million.

Chilwell was one of the Foxes’ standout performers this season with three goals and four assists in 33 appearances last season.

Chelsea’s season finished last week after they were convincingly knocked out of the Champions League by Bayern Munich 7-1 on aggregate.

In other Chelsea news, Paul Robinson has told Football Insider that it would take an a “very lucrative” offer to sign “outstanding” 28-year-old this summer.
