Exclusive: Danny Mills raves about 'Absolutely vital' West Brom signing

Danny Mills has claimed Lee Peltier will be “absolutely vital” in the West Brom quest for promotion this season.

The former Leeds and Manchester City full-back, speaking exclusively to Football Insider Assistant Editor Russell Edge, says the 33-year-old’s experience gained from promotion with Cardiff City in 2018 can help get the Baggies “over the line” this season.

The versatile defender has moved to the Hawthorns after five years in the Welsh capital where he made 152 appearances.

Peltier was a key member of Neil Warnock’s side that gained promotion to the Premier League in the 2017/18 season, playing 30 times for The Bluebirds.

Asked how important the defender’s experience would be to their promotion push, Mills told Football Insider: “The manager knows that the season is only really just now starting. They’ve put themselves in pole position.

“They’ve had this real slump in form, as have Leeds, so they know they need to kick on. Sometimes getting over the line is the hardest part. Bringing in players who have been there, done it and aren’t going to be overawed by the occasion is absolutely vital at times.

“Having experience, whether that be in the dressing room or on the bench or in the first-team, is absolutely vital.”

A 2-0 victory at home to Luton Town, courtesy of goals from Donervon Daniels and Semi Ajayi,  lifted the pressure on West Brom this weekend. Slaven Bilic’s side had failed to take three points from their previous seven Championship games.
