Darren Bent can’t believe Tottenham are trying to sell Danny Rose before the transfer window shuts this month.
Speaking exclusively to Football Insider, the former Spurs and England striker insisted the club should be “100 per cent keeping” the England left-back.
Football Insider revealed last month that Juventus are one of a number of clubs lining up a move for the England left-back, who was left out of Tottenham’s pre-season tour to Asia to seal a transfer elsewhere.
He has subsequently been introduced back into the fold by Mauricio Pochettino but there is a clear sense he could leave before all the European windows shut at the end of August.
“Tottenham should be 100 per cent keeping Danny Rose,” Bent told Football Insider. “He is the best left-back in this country when he is fully fit.
“There appears to be a breakdown in relations between him and the club. I don’t understand why they are not trying to keep him.
“It’s a strange one. There’s still question marks over Rose, Christian Eriksen and Toby Alderweireld, but Tottenham should be keeping all of them.”
Rose has turned 29 and there have been separate suggestions that his best days are considered to be behind him.
However, he ended last season as the first choice left-back at Spurs ahead of Ben Davies and started the Champions League final against Liverpool.
In other Spurs news, it can be REVEALED that the club are close to signing a record-breaking attacker.
