Tottenham have taken Northern Ireland teenage sensation Charlie Allen on trial with a view to signing him, Football Insider understands.

The 15-year-old is one of the most sought-after young attacking midfielders in the UK after catching the eye for Northern Irish champions Linfield.

A Spurs source has told Football Insider the club have invited Allen to North London for a trial period so that they can have a look at him at close quarters as they consider a move for him.

The likes of Liverpool, Manchester United, Manchester City and Leicester have all shown an interest in Allen and now Tottenham are aiming to leapfrog them in the chase for his signature.

The 15-year-old became Linfield’s youngest-ever debutant when he made his first-team bow in their final game of last season at Coleraine in April.

He does not turn 16 until November and has been described by Linfield Academy director Glenn Ferguson as “one of the brightest prospects” he has seen.

Linfield are resigned to losing Allen in the near future with his long list of suitors expecting to firm up their interest with offers for the youngster.

In the latest Spurs news, it can be REVEALED that Mauricio Pochettino has launched a charm offensive to secure a signing worth £100m in fee and wages.
