Exclusive: Darren Bent claims West Ham may lose 'Very good' player as Irons eye January deal

Darren Bent claims that a number of clubs will be circling for West Ham midfielder Jack Wilshere when the January transfer window opens.

Speaking exclusively to Football Insider assistant editor Russell Edge, the former Tottenham and England forward says there will be plenty of suitors for the 27-year-old despite his injury problems over the years.

Football Insider have exclusively revealed that the Hammers are willing to listen to offers for the former Arsenal man next month after his struggles in east London.

Despite Wilshere’s lack of game time this season, Bent says there will still be plenty of interest in the midfielder, insisting there is no doubt about his footballing ability.

“I think he’ll have some takers because he’s a good player,” Bent told Football Insider.

“There will be some takers but it’s just like where’s he going to fit in? Jack Wilshere is a very, very good player, I still really rate him. The only thing that’s hindered him a little bit is injuries which has killed him a bit.

“Hopefully he can go somewhere, get a fresh start and get over his injuries and go from there but it’s really tough. I’ve always been a big fan of his but it’s just one of those things.”

Wilshere has only played 16 times for West Ham since signing on a free transfer back in 2018, half of those appearances coming this season.

He has missed the last eight games due to a groin injury suffered back in October.
