Darren Bent suggested that Tottenham recall attacker Jack Clarke from Leeds United in order to freshen things up in the dressing room.
Speaking exclusively to Football Insider correspondent Laura O’Leary, the ex-Spurs forward claimed that something needed to instantly change at his former club and he pointed out how Clarke could have a positive impact.
The 18-year-old winger was signed by Spurs from Leeds in the summer but was instantly loaned back to the Championship club for the 2019/20 campaign.
Clarke is yet to feature for Marcelo Bielsa’s side in the Championship this season but the Leeds boss did suggest that the teenager was getting closer to featuring for the first-team as he admitted he is “improving.”
Bent pointed out that with Spurs struggling and Clarke not getting much game time at Elland Road, then perhaps recalling the 18-year-old could provide Mauricio Pochettino’s squad with a boost.
When asked about the potential changes Pochettino could make, Bent told Football Insider: “Something needs to change now, obviously Sessegnon is back soon so he will be thrown in the mix.
“But also they’ve got Jack Clarke out there as well and he’s not getting any game time at Leeds, so they could potentially bring him back to freshen things up in the dressing room as right now, it’s a tough position for them to be in.”
The 18-year-old may not have featured in the Championship for Leeds this season but he did play 115 minutes across the two EFL Cup games he featured in.
In the 2018/19 campaign, Clarke was regularly called upon by Bielsa to feature for Leeds as he played 25 times across all competitions.
