Exclusive: Euro clubs plot move to sign Reading player on pre-contract deal

Turkish sides Trabzonspor and Ankaragucu are plotting to sign Reading defender Tyler Blackett on a pre-contract in January, Football Insider understands.

The 25-year-old ‘s current contract at the Madjeski Stadium expires in 2020 and will be free to talk to foreign clubs next month over moving on a free transfer in the summer.

A source at Reading has told Football Insider that Turkish outfits Trabzanspor and Ankaragucu have both registered their interest in securing a pre-contract deal with the defender.

Blackett, who put pen to paper on a four-year deal with the Royals in the summer 0f 2016, has played a bit-part role for Mark Bowen’s side this season, with just eight appearances across all competitions.

The versatile defender, who can play as both a left-back and a centre-back, missed the start of the season as a result of an injury picked up over the summer, returning to action in September.

After featuring just once in 10 league games between October and December, he has started and played the full 90 minutes at left-back in the Royals’ last four matches.

The former Manchester United youngster left Old Trafford for Reading and has played a total of 108 times for the Royals, while he also has experience on loan at Birmingham City and Celtic.

His Turkish suitors find themselves at opposite ends of the Superlig table this season, with Trabzanspor sitting third and Ankaragucu second from bottom.
