Everton, Southampton and Stoke are closely monitoring Reading goalkeeper Lewis Ward, Football Insider sources understand.

Ward joined Aldershot on loan in November and he has made an instant impression at the National League outfit, with four clean sheets in their last five games.

A well-placed source has told Football Insider that Premier League trio Everton, Southampton and Stoke have been alerted to Ward's potential after sending scouts to watch him in action for Aldershot.

Ward, who has come through the ranks at Reading, is highly-regarded within the corridors of power at the Madejski Stadium.

The former England youth international has yet to make his senior debut for the Royals, but he is a regular for the club's Under-23s.

Ward is out of contract at Reading next summer and they could end up losing the the 6ft 5in keeper for just a compensation fee if his Premier League suitors firm up their interest in the player.
