Everton have set their sights on Rangers goal machine Alfredo Morelos, Football Insider can reveal.

The striker held crunch transfer talks with Ibrox chiefs this week and was told the club will not allow him to leave in January whatever the circumstances, as revealed by Football Insider.

An Everton source has told Football Insider that the club are keeping close tabs on the Colombia international with a view to the next few transfer windows.

The Merseysiders have scouted Morelos in recent weeks and are planning to continue to assess him ahead of next summer.

Morelos has emerged as not only the biggest asset at Rangers but also the hottest property in Scottish football.

He has spearheaded the Glasgow giants’ bid to win the league and end Celtic’s pursuit of nine-in-a-row, while also leading them into the Europa League knockout stages for the first time in a decade.

Morelos has banged in 26 goals from 32 appearances in all competitions this season, with his crucial goal in Thursday’s 1-1 draw against Young Boys his 14th in 14 Europa League clashes.

The 23-year-old is contracted to Rangers until the summer of 2023.

But he has regularly spoken of his ambition to test himself in a more competitive league, including in the Premier League.

Everton will face extensive competition for the signature of the prolific striker, who has also attracted interest from Aston Villa and Crystal Palace, as well as leading clubs across Europe as well as super-rich Chinese teams.

In other Rangers news, it can be REVEALED that the club have landed a SENSATIONAL £18million windfall.
