Steven Gerrard will be “annoyed” Rangers were unable to put Livingston to the sword on Sunday, according to Alan Hutton.
The former Gers defender, speaking exclusively to Football Insider assistant editor Russell Edge, admits the Light Blues have been wasteful in attack at times this season.
Goals from Joe Aribo and Jermain Defoe – who had both returned to the starting XI after their respective injury layoffs – secured victory for Gerrard’s men.
However, both strikes came in the opening 16 minutes and, despite dominating possession, the Gers failed to add to their tally.
As such, Hutton admits that Rangers’ profligacy is the one area that Gerrard will want to improve after a bright start to the Premiership season.
Hutton told Football Insider: “If you’re going to be critical and you’re going to look at certain things, over the past games it’s arguably the thing that’s annoyed Gerrard the most.
“Defensively, they’ve been brilliant but they’ve maybe not finished teams off. They’ve had opportunities but maybe not had that cutting edge in certain games.
“It’s probably an area where he would like to see more goals, they’re creating the opportunities. You have games like this where you miss chances but it’s one of those things.”
Rangers are currently the joint-top scorers in the Premiership alongside Glasgow rivals Celtic, with 28 goals apiece.
However, they have conceded just three times in the league and are yet to taste defeat across all competitions.
