Kevin Phillips claimed Harry Kane will be tempted to leave Tottenham this summer in search of silverware.
The former Sunderland and Southampton striker, speaking exclusively to Football Insider correspondent Dylan Childs, suggested the 26-year-old may be lining up a blockbuster move after getting disheartened by his trophy prospects at Spurs.
According to a report in the Telegraph, the striker will consider his future at the club this summer after a disappointing campaign for the Lilywhites.
The England captain is currently injured having ruptured a tendon in his left hamstring at Southampton on New Years Day.
Kane has scored 17 goals in 25 appearances this season and is also the club’s third all-time top scorer behind Bobby Smith and Jimmy Greaves.
When asked if a summer move was on the cards for the number 10, Phillips told Football Insider: “There is a couple of rumours in the papers that Harry Kane is considering his future and why would he not?
“He is not getting any younger and players want silverware. I only got the one piece in my career and I was delighted but players like Harry Kane want to retire having won four, five.
“At the moment at Tottenham that is not going to happen this season so another season has gone by. Tottenham have to put some silverware in the cabinet soon to keep everyone happy, especially players like Kane.”
Spurs’ hopes of Champions League qualification suffered a blow on Saturday evening as they drew 1-1 at Burnley, Dele Alli equalising from the penalty spot.
Kane is expected to return from injury before the end of the season and in time to make the England squad for Euro 2020.
In other Tottenham news, Danny Mills has told Football Insider he fears Troy Parrott will be frozen out at Spurs.
