Exclusive: Leeds 28-yr-old to start for first time since February today - Whelan claim
Noel Whelan claims that Ezgjan Alioski is set to start for Leeds United against Blackburn Rovers today after Stuart Dallas’ injury blow.
The former Leeds striker, speaking exclusively to Football Insider assistant editor Russell Edge, believes the 28-year-old is a shoo-in to replace the Northern Irishman after his setback.
As revealed by Bielsa to the Yorkshire Evening Post, Dallas is likely to miss the clash at Ewood Park with a muscle injury picked up late on in Tuesday’s clash against Luton Town.
Having seen Alioski play at left-back on numerous occasions this season, Whelan believes he will step back into the starting XI for the first time since February.
Whelan told Football Insider: “Dallas is doubtful, he is doubtful so Alioski will come straight into that position.
“He will be a massive miss, very, very effective down that left-hand side, even when he switched to that right-hand side, always working hard, always trying to attack, always trying to be positive.

“He will be a big miss for me at Blackburn. Alioski, I think he’s done pretty well when he’s come in, quite frankly, I think he’s done okay so that’s not a worry to me. That would be the natural option to but to lose Dallas, that’s a big blow.”
Alioski has played a total of 33 times in the Championship this season, although only 18 of those appearances came among the starting XI.
He has been brought on at half time in both of the Whites’ last two games.
In other Leeds United news, Noel Whelan has been left fuming over the “worst decision in football this season” at Elland Road.
