Leeds United and Aston Villa are in a battle to sign non-league sensation Ed Williams, Football Insider sources understands.
Williams has caught the eye for National League North side Kidderminster Harriers so far this season with six goals in seven games from midfield and his performances have alerted a number of Football League clubs.
A well-placed source has told Football Insider that scouts from Leeds and Aston Villa have watched Williams in action for Kidderminster during Saturday’s FA Cup qualifying win over Atherstone Town. The chase is being led from Elland Road by recruitment chief Victor Orta.
Championship duo Derby County and Ipswich Town have also shown an interest in Williams along with several League One and League Two clubs.
Williams, who has been called up to the England C squad this season, only signed a one-year deal at Kidderminster after joining from Gloucester City this summer.
Kidderminster could be forced to cash-in on Williams when the January transfer window reopens rather than risk allowing him to see out his contract and they are bracing themselves for interest from his host of Football League suitors.
In other Leeds United news, Football Insider can reveal a Norwegian player has completed a medical at Elland Road.
