Leeds United are poised to sign highly-rated Norwegian teenager Niklas Haugland with the player due for a medical at Elland Road today, Football Insider sources understands.

Leeds have beaten off interest from the likes of Bayern Munich, AC Milan and Red Bull Salzburg to land Haugland from Norwegian third tier side Fana IL.

The 16-year-old enjoyed a stint with Leeds earlier this summer having also been invited on trial by Bayer Munich, AC Milan and Red Bull Salzburg.

Haugland impressed Leeds' coaching staff during his trial at the club and they have decided to push forward with a move for the skilful striker.

A well-placed source has told Football Insider that the the teenager waited until now before making a decision on his future as he waited to finish school in June.

Haugland is due to finalise the transfer today before signing a scholarship deal and he is set to be at Elland Road on Friday night to watch Marcelo Bielsa's side take on Middlesbrough in a top of the table Championship clash.
