EXCLUSIVE By Pete O’Rourke
Highly-rated Leeds attacker Robbie Gotts is in talks over a new deal at the club, Football Insider understands.
Gotts, 19, is in the final six months of his contract at Leeds and the Championship leaders are keen to tie him down to a new long-term deal.
A well-placed source has told Football Insider the club have high hopes for the versatie wide man, who can play on the right wing or at right-back, and negotiations are underway over an extension.
Gotts is on the fringes of the first-team at Leeds and was named on the bench for the games against Aston Villa and Blackburn over the festive period.
The teenager has yet to make his first-team debut for Leeds, but he has impressed Whites head coach Marcelo Bielsa when playing for the club’s Under-23s.
Bielsa has shown he is not afraid to give youth a chance in the Leeds side this season with the likes of Jack Clarke, Jamie Shackleton, Aapo Halme and Leif Davis all featuring in the team this campaign.
Versatile performer Gotts could potentially make his debut for Leeds this season with the squad being stretched due to injuries and suspensions.
In other Leeds United news, it can be revealed the club have opened preliminary talks to sign the leader scorer of the league leaders.
