Leeds United are to hold contract talks with star striker Kemar Roofe this month to fend off growing interest in him from Premier League clubs, Football Insider sources understands.
Roofe has been instrumental in Leeds’ success so far this season with the forward showing his best form under Marcelo Bielsa.
A well placed source has told Football Insider that Roofe has just over 18 months to run on his current contract at Elland Road and Leeds are ready to sit down and discuss handing the attacker a long-term deal.
Roofe’s blistering start to the campaign has alerted a number of Premier League clubs who are all keeping tabs on the former West Bromwich Albion and Oxford United star.
The 25-year-old scored four goals and laid on two assists in his opening six Championship games which saw him named Championship Player of the Month for August.
Roofe is currently recovering from injury and has missed Leeds’ last four games, in which they have won just a single one of them.
His value has rocketed since his 2016 arrival from West Brom for around £3million and he is now rated in the £10million-plus bracket.
In other Leeds United news, it can be revealed that the club are in the hunt to sign a midfield goal machine with six goals in seven matches.
