Jack Clarke has cut short his loan stay at Leeds United to return to Tottenham early, Football Insider understands.
The skilful attacker was due to spend the season on loan at Leeds after rejoining the Championship club on loan in the summer following his big-money move to Spurs.
A Leeds source has told Football Insider Clarke left Elland Road on Christmas Day to return to Tottenham and he will not be part of Leeds’ squad for the Boxing Day clash with Preston.
The 19-year-old has been unable to break into Marcelo Bielsa’s plans this season and Tottenham have decided to terminate his loan move early.
Clarke has spent most of this season on the bench, with him making just three appearances for Leeds.
Only one of those appearances came in the Championship and that was a 19 minutes cameo in the 2-1 win over Luton Town in November.
The England U-20 international has returned to Tottenham so that Jose Mourinho can cast an eye over him in training before deciding whether to include him in his plans for the second half of the season.
In his 2018/19 campaign, Clarke racked up 25 appearances across all competitions for the Whites, scoring two goals and registering one assist.
While the 19-year-old has struggled to feature this season, the Whites have been flying high without him as they’re currently second in the table.
Bielsa’s side are currently three points behind league leaders West Bromwich Albion who they’re set to play on New Year’s Day.
The Whites are next in action against Preston on Boxing Day with Alex Neil’s side fifth in the table, nine points behind Leeds.
In other Leeds United news, Danny Mills has tipped the Whites to sign ‘Fabulous’ Man City player next month.
