Liverpool are plotting a swoop to sign highly-rated Norwich City youngster Ciaren Jones for a bargain summer fee, Football Insider understands.
Jones, 19, has caught the eye for the Championship leaders in this season’s Premier League 2 and he is tipped to become the latest young star to make the breakthrough at Carrow Road.
A Liverpool source has told Football Insider that scouts from the club are keeping close tabs on Jones, who could be available for as little as £200,000 in the forthcoming window.
They have watched Jones in action on several occasions this season and the Merseysiders are ready to test Norwich’s resolve to hang onto the teenager this summer.
Norwich have enjoyed success in the development of academy players with the likes of Max Aarons and Jamal Lewis impressing the first-team and the the Championship promotion hopefuls have high hopes for Jones to follow in their footsteps.
The talented central defender joined Norwich from Luton Town in the summer of 2018 and his rapid progress at the club was rewarded with a new contract in February.
Jones’ rise to prominence has not gone unnoticed among other clubs and Liverpool will face competition for his signature.
