Liverpool want to blow Leeds United out of the water and win the race to sign French rising star Enzo Valentim, Football Insider can reveal.
A source at the Merseyside giants has told Football Insider the club are keeping close tabs on the 18-year-old Reims II ace as they look to recruit another highly-regarded youngster.
Liverpool have already signed 16-year-old attacking midfielder Harvey Elliott and 17-year-old defender Sepp van den Berg for multi-million pound fees this summer.
The Champions League holders are now looking to further add to their ranks of young players capable of playing for their first team in the future by signing Valentim.
There is also strong interest in the French youth international, as revealed by Football Insider earlier this week, from Leeds as well as Stoke City.
The two Championship clubs will be concerned at the prospect of having to fight off a club with the financial power of Liverpool.
However, Leeds and Stoke have one advantage in that they can offer Valentim, who is currently playing for Reims II in National 2, which is the fourth tier of French football, a quicker pathway to senior football.
Valentim came through the ranks at Tours before joining Reims last summer and he has already clocked up 36 first-team appearances in his career.
Capped by France at Under-19 level, he is regarded in his homeland as a potential star-in-the-making.
