Frank McAvennie is adamant Celtic will sign an adequate replacement for Fraser Forster this summer given elite scouting technology at Lennoxtown.
The Centenary team member, speaking exclusively to Football Insider correspondent Dylan Childs, warned Forster that to turn down a return to the club would be to turn down the chance of “immortality” at the Glasgow giants.
Neil Lennon revealed last week that Forster had stalled on a return to Parkhead after the club agreed a loan-to-buy deal with Southampton.
Players have also been very vocal regarding the transfer over the past month with Mohamed Elyounoussi and Ryan Christie two that have urged his return.
However, Football Insider understands that the Hoops are not hanging around and have held positive discussions with free agent Joe Hart.
When asked by Football Insider if the club’s very public pursuit of Forster would be detrimental to a potentially inbound Hart, McAvennie said: “They want Forster because that is who they know. Players can tell straight away at training if a goalkeeper is decent.
“They want Fraser because they know what they are getting and they are confident with him but if he does not want to come there is nothing anyone can do about it.
“He’ll make a choice and I think it will be the wrong one because he would get immortality if they win the 10 this year.
“But whoever comes in will have been very well scouted. I know there is a room at Lennoxtown where you walk in, switch the computer on, type in a name and it gives you 17 screens of information about this player. They will find someone.”
