Exclusive: McNamara suggests Rangers attacker may get chance at Ibrox if loan cut short
Jackie McNamara suggested that attacker Jake Hastie may get a chance to feature for Rangers if his loan at Rotherham United is cut short in January.
Speaking exclusively to Football Insider correspondent Laura O’Leary, the former Scotland international admitted it was possible that Steven Gerrard could look to utilise the 21-year-old winger in the second half of the season.
Rotherham manager Paul Warne recently admitted that the Gers could cut Hastie’s season-long loan short in January due to his minutes drying up.
McNamara pointed out that Hastie never really got an opportunity upon joining the Gers in the summer but didn’t think it was beyond the realms of possibility that he could be useful.
When asked if Hastie could get an opportunity at Ibrox if he returns in January, McNamara told Football Insider: “Potentially.
“He’s never really had an opportunity before as they signed him from Motherwell and sent him straight out on loan to get experience.

“So I think he is still young so he could play.”
The Scottish winger featured twice for Gerrard’s side before being loaned out, with him featuring in the win against St Joseph’s as well as the victory over East Fife.
Hastie has featured 15 times for Rotherham this season, scoring three goals and registering one assist in the process.
The 21-year-old’s three goals all came in his first three league outings for the League One side.
