Liverpool are keeping close tabs on Norwich City defender Ben Godfrey ahead of the summer transfer window as they weigh up a £10million approach, Football Insider understands.
The Merseyside giants have been impressed by the performances of the 21-year-old, who has played a big role in the Canaries rising to the top of the Championship.
A club source has told Football Insider that Liverpool recruitment chief Michael Edwards has detailed the club’s scouts to make regular trips to Carrow Road this season and Godfrey is on their target list as they plot a summer swoop.
Godfrey, who can play in defensive midfield as well as central defence and left-back, has established himself as a key member of the Norwich side since making his first league start of the campaign in December.
He has been solid at the back and has also racked up three goals and two assists in his 24 Championship matches so far.
The source told Football Insider that Norwich are keen to keep hold of Godfrey, but they are facing offers from leading Premier League clubs for the England Under-20 international even if they do end up winning promotion to the Premier League this season.
The youngster’s price tag has soared beyond the £10million mark as a result of his accomplished displays.
In other Liverpool transfer news, a player in the team in the recent win against Fulham has jetted out to a Euro capital to finalise his transfer from the club.
