Exclusive: Danny Mills head over heels for 'Exceptional' Spurs MOTM v Southampton

Danny Mills was left head over heels for Tottenham winger Heung-min Son after his impressive performance against Southampton on Wednesday night.

The former Leeds United and England defender, speaking exclusively to Football Insider assistant editor Russell Edge, says that the South Korean’s professional attitude shone through in the FA Cup clash in north London.

The 27-year-old was joined by Lucas Moura in striking for the Lilywhites on the way to a 3-2 win after Jack Stephens’ own goal had opened the scoring.

Mills acknowledges that Son was not completely perfect in his display against the Saints but that his work ethic set him apart at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium.

Mills told Football Insider: “It’s his attitude and his work rate, first and foremost – he’s tireless in everything that he does. He’s ultra-professional, always gives his all, got great quality.

“I thought last night he made a couple of strange decisions for him, where there was an opportunity to shoot or pass and was a little bit hesitant, wasn’t quite clinical enough.

“His penalty was exceptional and he was the brightest player for Tottenham throughout, he was offering to run in behind and try create things. He won man of the match and rightly so.”

Son has now scored 14 goals in 31 appearances for Tottenham across all competitions this season, finding the back of the net in each of his last four games.

Tottenham now have over a week to wait until their next game courtesy of the Premier League’s winter break, with a trip to Aston Villa on the horizon.

In other Tottenham news, Kevin Phillips was left in raptures with one Spurs star who nearly had him out of his seat.
