'Perfect' - Exclusive: Mills in awe of Leeds pursuit of 'Proven' goalscorer who'd be 'Ideal'

Danny Mills heaped praise on Leeds United for being in pursuit of Southampton attacker Che Adams.

Speaking exclusively to Football Insider correspondent Laura O’Leary, the former Leeds defender revealed he believes Adams could be the ideal signing for the club as he’s a proven Championship goalscorer.

Football Insider recently revealed that the Whites had registered an interest in signing the 23-year-old forward with them it unclear whether Eddie Nketiah will stick around.

Mills explained that Southampton may be willing to pay a portion of Adams’ wages if the Saints end up loaning him out.

When asked about Leeds being in pursuit of Adams, Mills told Football Insider: “Yeah if he is available and he is an option than a proven goalscorer in the Championship is ideal.

“Leeds may have struggled over the last couple of games to put the ball in the back of the net, so he’d be ideal.

“As a Premier League club they are likely to loan him out and let him go, may pay a portion of his wages as well, so it seems like the perfect and ideal situation.

“Also it’ll be a good opportunity for him, to come to a big club, perform week-in-week-out, get some goals and get back on the scoresheet.”

The 23-year-old forward has struggled to nail down a first-team spot at Southampton this season with him racking up a total of 17 appearances.

However, Adams has played a huge chunk of Southampton’s last two league games with him playing 80 minutes of the 2-0 win over Chelsea as well as 63 minutes of Saturday’s 1-1 draw with Crystal Palace.
