Danny Mills urged Sheffield Wednesday attacker Jordan Rhodes to join Celtic as he could make a big name for himself at the club.
Speaking exclusively to Football Insider correspondent Laura O’Leary, the former England international suggested a move to Celtic would be fabulous for Rhodes as it’ll be a huge step up from playing for a Championship side.
It was previously reported that the Hoops were looking to sign the English forward on loan from the Owls in order to aid their quest for success this season.
Mills seem to think the 29-year-old is making a mistake by not jumping at the possible opportunity coming his way courtesy of the Hoops as he’d get to prove himself by playing European football.
When asked if Rhodes should consider joining Celtic with them in pursuit, Mills told Football Insider: “Yeah well he’s not going to get a Premier League move is he, that’s been shown.
“Celtic would be a fabulous move for him.
“It’s a step up from the Championship, it’s not quite the Premier League, but it is where he could make a big name for himself at a very high level by playing European football.
“And if he gets that opportunity, I think it would be a huge step up for him and I think it’ll be a very good move for him and a good move for Celtic as well.”
Rhodes has scored three goals in 13 games this season, with all of his goals coming in December’s 3-0 win over Nottingham Forest.
The 29-year-old has been sparingly used by the Owls this season as he hasn’t managed to complete 90 minutes in any of his league outings so far.
