Everton defender Con Ouzounidis is in high demand among EFL clubs ahead of the January transfer window, Football Insider understands.
The 21-year-old has been a regular for the Toffees’ under-23s over the past year but is yet to make his first-team debut at Goodison Park.
A recruitment source has told Football Insider Everton are expected to let the Australia youth international leave the club next month and that there are several sides across the Football League keen on taking the promising centre-back on board.
Ouzounidis penned a new one-year contract back in July, meaning January is the last chance for Everton to secure a transfer fee without having to claim development compensation should he move on in the summer.
The Aussie, who is also eligible to play for Greece, broke into the under-23s back in early 2018 after impressing for the under-18s and helped the Toffees to both the Premier League 2 and the Premier League Cup title in the 2018/19 season.
He suffered both an ankle and Achilles injury which limited his game time in 2019, although he managed to play eight times for David Unsworth’s men last season before the campaign was cut short due to the Coronavirus pandemic.
He has since just three games for the Everton reserves this season but looks set to leave Goodison Park without making his senior bow.
The young defender has had the likes of senior stars Yerry Mina, Michael Keane, Mason Holgate, as well as teenage starlet Jarrad Branthwaite, ahead of him in the first-team pecking order.
