Exclusive: Bent excited as Everton set sights on signing 24-yr-old from PL giants
Darren Bent has urged Everton to launch a move to sign Harry Winks from Tottenham instead of Sami Khedira in January.
The former Spurs and England hitman, speaking exclusively to Football Insider, has claimed the 24-year-old would be more mobile in the midfield than the 77-cap Germany international.
As revealed by Football Insider in November, Everton set their sights on a potential loan deal for Winks after the midfielder’s fall down the pecking order under Jose Mourinho this season.
Ancelotti has already confirmed, via the Liverpool Echo, that Everton want to recruit next month and the Italian boss refused to quash links to Juventus outcast Khedira.
However, Bent has insisted the Toffees need to focus on the “here and now” and that Winks would be a better signing than the 33-year-old.
Bent told Football Insider: “I like Harry Winks, he’s definitely somebody that can get about the pitch, has got legs, can pass the ball and is not afraid get stuck his foot in as well.

“That would be a very good signing, that would make more sense to me than a Khedira. I know people are going to say: Oh Khedira, Champions League,’ but we need to look at the here and now.
“Here and now, Harry Winks is fit, he gets about the pitch, he’s an international so to me it makes a lot more sense.”
Winks has played just five times in the Premier League this season, with his last top-flight start having come back in September.
Khedira meanwhile has not featured at all this season for Juventus having plummeted down the pecking order in Turin.
