Paul Robinson was thrilled to hear that Aston Villa were reportedly in pursuit of Chelsea forward Michy Batshuayi.
Speaking exclusively to Football Insider correspondent Laura O’Leary, the ex-England No.1 revealed he thought Batshuayi is ideal for the Villans and claimed it would be a real coup to get him.
It was reported that the Villans have already enquired about taking the 26-year-old on loan following the season-ending injury to Wesley.
However, it is believed that Batshuayi wants to stay at Stamford Bridge and fight for his place in Frank Lampard’s side.
Robinson didn’t think that should put Dean Smith’s side off as he suggested the forward’s future may come down to what signings the Blues make.
When asked about the Villans wanting Batshauyi, Robinson told Football Insider: “Batshuayi would be ideal for them.
“But I think it will depend on what is coming into Chelsea, Chelsea are not going to let Batshuayi go unless they get the players in they want.
“If he wants to go and get game time with someone like Aston Villa, that will be a real coup.”
Batshuayi has played 18 times across all competitions for the Blues this season, scoring five goals in the process.
The Belgian international spent the second half of his 2018/19 campaign on loan with Crystal Palace and managed to rack up six goals in 13 outings for them.
Batshuayi’s Chelsea contract still has a bit of time left to run on it as it doesn’t expire until 2021.
