Exclusive: Paul Robinson verdict on whether Adrian will be at Liverpool next season
Paul Robinson insists Adrian is a “good option” for Liverpool and expects the goalkeeper to remain second-choice at Anfield next season.
The former England number one, speaking exclusively to Football Insider correspondent Dylan Childs, admitted if Alisson had been available against Atletico Madrid in midweek the Reds would “not have lost”.
Adrian, 33, has come under scrutiny for his performance as the Champions League holders crashed out of Europe on Wednesday night.
Jurgen Klopp’s side were 2-0 up in extra-time but the tie was turned on its head when Adrian allowed Marcos Llorente to score twice before Alvaro Morata put the game beyond doubt.
When asked if Adrian would suffer the same fate as Loris Karius this summer, Robinson told Football Insider: “He was poor and he showed a lack of confidence. Atletico Madrid exploited that.
“If Alisson was in goal it would have been completely different. Adrian could have done better with all three goals. If Alisson was in goal Liverpool would not have lost that game and the difference on the night was the two goalkeepers.

“He is not a bad goalkeeper. At the start of the season he did very well. It has been indifferent this time but he is a good option as a number two. He has looked shaky and uncertain but I do not think it will affect his future.”
Alisson missed the crunch European tie after suffering an injury in preparation for the FA Cup final defeat to Chelsea a week prior.
Adrian will have to wait for his redemption after the Premier League announced all fixtures are postponed until April 4 due to the outbreak of coronavirus.
