Preston North End have submitted a bid for Derby County defender Max Lowe, Football Insider understands.

Lowe is back at Pride Park this summer after two spells out on loan at Scottish Premiership side Aberdeen last season.

A Preston source has told Football Insider that boss Alex Neil is in the market for reinforcements at left-back and he has identified Lowe as his top target.

The north-west outfit have tabled an offer for Lowe and they are hopeful of signing him before the transfer cut-off next week.

The 22-year-old impressed at Aberdeen, making 42 appearances in all competitions for the club and his performances brought him to the attention of a number of sides north and south of the border.

Derby are well-stocked at left-back with Craig Forsyth and Scott Malone, while summer signing Graham Shinnie can also operate there if needed meaning Lowe's first-team chances could be limited at Pride Park.
