Exclusive: Pundit Amazed as 'Different class' Chelsea midfielder agrees reported exit
Noel Whelan has waxed lyrical about Chelsea midfielder Conor Gallagher as he nears a reported move to Crystal Palace this summer.
The former Leeds United striker, speaking exclusively to Football Insider correspondent Dylan Childs, claimed that the 20-year-old “stood out” in the Championship last season and was clearly a cut above the division.
It has been widely reported that the attacking midfielder underwent a medical with the Eagles over the weekend with the view to a season-long loan deal.
Gallagher spent the second-half of the 2019/20 campaign at Swansea City having joined Charlton Athletic on loan for the first half of the season.
His 47 Championship appearances last term yielded an impressive six goals and 11 assists as he helped the Swans reach the Play Off semi-finals.
When asked by Football Insider if the midfielder was ready to make his mark in the Premier League, Whelan said:

“Gallagher was really impressive when I watched him last season. He has great energy, likes to get on the ball and make things happen. He was a player that stuck out for me when Leeds were playing against Swansea. Very, very competitive and he knows his role inside out.
“He gets into very good areas and pockets in between the lines so it does not surprise me that Crystal Palace want him because he looked a different class of player in the Championship last season. He was involved in everything.
“He has come through the ranks at Chelsea and Crystal Palace are very close so I am sure they have watched him a number of times.”
Gallagher has two years left on his deal at Stamford Bridge having signed a contract extension last summer.
He has been capped by England at every youth level from Under-17 to Under-21.
